Nuwara Eliya

Nuwara Eliya or better known as the hill country of Ceylon. Located a few hours from Colombo, Nuwara Eliya is a city you must visit if you’re in visiting the island!

The trip uphill

The climb towards Nuwara Eliya through mountains and waterfalls is so exciting when you’re a fan of cold weather.

This city is also called Little England of Ceylon or Sri Lanka – since the English & Scottish were ruling over these lands a few years ago! The city itself is covered with a few tea plantations which you of course can have a walk through! (make sure you won’t pluck any or harm the trees that are)

Things to do in Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka

Nuwara Eliya also known as Little England has a lot of things to do starting from vintage hotel stays to a cold breeze at Victoria Park in Nuwara Eliya.

Here are a few things I would redo if I went to Nuwara Eliya.

  1. Victoria Park in Nuwara Eliya
With a cold breeze hitting your face, you will see a dark blue water ambit with a few houses on the top of the horizon. Tip: Best to visit from 2 PM to 5 PM
  2. Stay at Grand Hotel – Nuwara Eliya With over a few hundred years of stories to tell, the hotel staff is amazing & we loved the Hotel’s garden
  3. Walk around the city of Nuwara Eliya – Most peeps either locals or tourists just stay at a hotel and visit the park. But the most amazing site in this city is the city itself. Make sure you won’t forget a trip around the city!

Since this was one of the shortest trips I’ve been on, these are the 3 top things I would recommend

Tip: Make sure to get yourself a tripod if you’re a solo traveler.

Experience Hill country with a scottish vibe

Since this was a very short stay, let me know what I missed in the comments below!
